This project was the final for my class "Texture and Shading for Games 2" taught by Bobby Rice at Gnomon. It is a real-time environment built in Unreal Engine 4 using CPU Lightmass. I would not have been able to get it anywhere close to what it looks like now without the help and feedback from Bobby. He took time out of his lunch breaks and after hours just to make sure I finished this project strong, and I am extremely grateful for that. He is an incredible artist and teacher, and I seriously made a big jump in my art because of his class.

The project was to match a photograph that utilizes a 5layer shader with vertex painting to achieve the desired look. The walls and floor both utilize this technique. The brick textures were a deep dive into Substance Designer, and how to achieve 3 different looks with one base, so I can then blend them together in engine. The graffiti was a homage to my art roots, which started in graffiti. I drew them in RGB so then I was able to adjust the colors to whatever I wanted them to be in engine. I then made a grungy opacity map in Designer so I can dial the wear and tear into them.

The concept was a photograph that was also given to me by Bobby, as he thought it would be a good challenge for me, but also not too long of a project to take on. The biggest challenge was the lighting, as getting the feel of an overcast day inside of a building was extremely hard.
